I can’t believe it’s already been a decade since Y2K and since Avril Lavigne first jumped on the scene. Rolling Stone Magazine is celebrating this past decade by picking the best album, best song, and best single. Avril Lavigne’s ‘Complicated’ came it at #8 for Best Single of the Decade! Congrats Avril!

I’m not surprised with this ranking because that song was on the radio for several years. I’m sure some radio stations still play it because it’s one of Avri’s best songs! The crazy thing it was her first single ever! Anyways, I’ve included a video of Avril singing ‘Complicated’ live on her Best Damn Tour!

As you know Avril Lavigne performed in Mexico for a fundraiser this past weekend and the crowd went mental. She performed an acoustic only set with past band mate Evan Taubenfeld.  They totally rocked it. I found a better quality video of them performing ‘Girlfriend’ which I thought was really cool to hear as an acoustic version. I guess we should get used to hearing Avril playing acoustic only sets since her fourth album due out in early 2010 is going to mainly acoustic.

And because this song was the most popular track on this album I’ve included the original music video after the jump! You know, just for nostalgic sake.

That’s right Evan Taubenfeld is the first person to hear Avril Lavigne’s new album in its entirety. He posted yesterday on his personal blog how awesome it was to perform with Avril again in Mexico. It was a short turn around 24hr trip and I can only imagine how tired they will be. None the less this short trip together proved to be the best opportunity for Avril to play her entire new album for Evan. These are his words exactly:

Last night, after rehearsal Av played me her entire record and all I can say is that you’re going to lose your fucking mind. It’s safe to say that next year is her year and I can’t wait until you guys get to hear the amazing stuff she’s done. One thing is for sure, she’s the best singer I’ve ever heard, I’m just insanely proud of how good it is.

Wow, I really do hope he’s right and that 2010 is going to be Avril Lavigne’s year. There is so much anticipation surrounding her fourth album so I do hope it can live up to the excitement. With that said I trust Evan and his take on things.

As some of you may know Avril Lavigne played in Mexico a few days ago. The video I discovered is not the best quality but it’s the the most recent footage of Avril performing. So jealous that she is in Mexico right now probably enjoying margaritas and tequila. Mmmmm.

She of course played one of her most popular songs ‘Complicated’ and the crowd went absolutely wild. They were singing along and it looks like Avril was having a really good time!

I know I”ve posted several videos of Avril Lavigne performing ‘Nobody’s Home’ the reason is because I think it really reflects how beautiful and powerful her voice is. For such a tiny girl (and believe you me she is small) her voice is so strong. I’m thinking that she’s going to take a song like this with all of the emotion and put it on her new album. I think it will be a reflection of her maturing as not only a woman but a musician.

This is a video of her performing on MadTV in 2004! One of my favorite shows and she totally rocks it and the audience loved it.

She ended up performing a pretty racey skit on the show so I’m not going to show it. But I assure you Avril was definitely out of character. I did however find a video of the people from Mad making fun of Avril Lavigne and Lil’ Mama. It’s cute and although they are mocking their song together it’s all in good fun!

We all remember when Avril Lavigne performed with Alanis Morissette and for those of us who were addicted to Jagged Little Pill probably got chills when the two sang ‘Ironic’. I was about 11 when I started listening to Alanis religiously and since Avril is the same age as me I can imagine she was the same age. So when she had the opportunity to perform with not only one of her music idols but a fellow Canadian I’m sure she jumped at the chance.

Something that I’ve admired about Avril Lavigne is her ability to be herself in spite of what’s popular or trendy. I’m not really a huge fan of her fashion choices but I”ll give her kudos for wearing what she wants. It’s this dare devil attitude that has inspired young women for years.

She talks about Abbey Dawn as reflecting her “personal style” and it definitely is a homage to her punkish look.

Her song “Bad Reputation” for sure symbolizes her “I don’t give a ish about what people think” attitude and I feel it’s a perfect match for this post.

I really hope that she continues to put this independent attidue into her music! Less then three months away from her new album and I bet you’re all shaking in your booties!

A very kind Avril Bandaider named Aren kindly informed me that I had my dates wrong regarding Avril Lavigne’s fourth album! So firstly I want to say thank you to Aren for correcting me and of course spilling the beans on the accurate dates for Avril’s new album.

This is exactly what he said:

Avril already told AvrilBandaids the album will be out March 2010, and the single January 2010.

So there you have it,  Avril Groupie finally knows what’s up.

I also want to discuss a comment that someone left on my Jonas Brother’s Post. This is what ‘me’ said:

THIS IS A BLOG ABOUT AVRIL. STOP WRITING CRAP ABOUT LADY GAGA AND THE JONAS BROTHERS.

I understand this persons frustration because obviously they came here looking for ONLY Avril Lavigne stuff. However, Avril is busy working on her fourth album and has been out of the publics eye since her divorce which is why I talk about anything that is related to her.

Regarding my Lady Gaga post I think it’s relevant because she’s rising to the top taking what used to be Avril’s title and the Jonas Brothers went on tour with her. In fact if it wasn’t for the BDT tour they probably wouldn’t be where they are.

I love the jeans she’s wearing. I’ve been seeing that style everywhere lately!

I love the headband that Avril Lavigne is wearing it’s very cool! Lately I’ve been notcing that her style has changed a litte bit from last few years. She’s been wearing a lot of black and there’s no doubt that it suits her. She looks a bit older then in previous years!
